Slow Food, founded in 1986, is an international organisation whose aim is to protect the pleasures of the table from the homogenisation of modern fast food and life. Through a variety of initiatives, it promotes gastronomic culture, develops taste education, conserves agricultural biodiversity and protects traditional foods at risk of extinction. The Red Pump Inn is one of the oldest in the Ribble Valley, (rumoured to have been built before 1756). The Inn nestles happily in Bashall Eaves just on the skirts of the Forest Of Bowland, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Plough Inn at Wigglesworth is a lovely, 1700s Dales Country Inn with cosy en-suite rooms, friendly restaurants, open log fires, rustic beams and lots of character.
